Islamic Studies Curriculum
The Islamic Studies Program goal is to make students more aware of the purpose of their creation and their role in life, to build in their young hearts a strong belief that enables them to distinguish right from wrong, and to help them abide by the right and refrain from the wrong.
There are four sections in the Islamic Studies curriculum that cover all aspects of Islam:
Aqidah (faith)
Fiqh
Hadith and Seerah
Quran Interpretation
In the Quran interpretation section we discuss and interpret the meanings of the surahs that the students are assigned to memorize in their Quran class. This will enable students to understand what they are memorizing.
In the Aqidah (faith) section, the Islamic Studies department chose to teach the students from a wonderful series of books called Emaan Made Easy. The series of books cover the six pillars of eman. It is taught to each grade level with a certain depth that satisfies their level of understanding. The material covered is well-founded on authentic proofs from the Qur'an and Sunnah.
In the Fiqh section, the book used is Fiqh Made Easy. This book covers the most important aspects of the different Fiqh topics. For the greater portions of this book, the Fiqh opinions expressed are generally agreed upon and non-controversial.
For the Hadith and Seerah section, students are taught different topics ranging from the life of the Prophet Muhammad (S), Al-Khulafa Al-Rashidun (The four great Khalifas), to Islamic History in general. Students take a closer look at Prophet Muhammad (S) as a father, a husband, and a leader, and students learn from his life. For the Hadith aspect, students learn different ahadith, and the book mostly used is 40 Ahadith for Islamic Schools.
