Meet the OCS Board of Education for the 2024-25 school year!

Assalamu Alaikum OCS Parents,

Alhamdulillah, with the grace of Allah (SWT), we are blessed to welcome you all back to Orange Crescent School for a new academic year! We hope you and your families had a restful and joyous summer break, filled with wonderful memories. As we embark on this exciting journey together, we look forward to a year full of learning, growth, and the strengthening of our Islamic values.

It is with great pleasure that I introduce to you our School Board for the 2024-25 school year, comprised of dedicated individuals who are committed to the academic excellence and spiritual growth of our students. Our board members bring diverse experiences and a shared passion for fostering a nurturing and enriching environment for all.

Please join me in welcoming:

Responsibilities:

  • Liaisons between the BOE and Majlis Shura.
  • Works directly with school administration.
  • Presides over all BOE meetings.
  • Delegates responsibilities to BOE members.
  • Presents to the Executive Committee all school matters.
  • Oversees the school budget and coordinate with the accounting and the Treasurer.
  • Handles all HR related matters, with the guidance of the Executive Committee.
  • Signs all OCS disbursement checks on a weekly basis.
     

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develops school policy and procedures, with input from the BOE.
  • Oversees the adoption and implementation of approved school policies throughout the year, with the assistance of the President and Board Policy Consultants.
  • Presents updates during the BOE meetings.
  • Presides over the BOE meetings, in the absence of the President.
  • Advises the President on all school matters, and votes on any school matter that requires a BOE vote.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates with the ISOC accounting department and receives monthly P/L.
  • Reviews current monthly expenses and advises the President on all school financial matters.
  • Tracks spending trajectory to ensure the school is keeping inline with the budget.
  • Presents updates during BOE meetings.
  • Works on the yearly school budget with the President and Principal.
  • Advises the President on all school matters, and votes on any school matter that requires a BOE vote.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as Chair of various BOE Committees adopted throughout the school year.
  • Liaisons between the BOE and its Committees.
  • Presents updates during BOE meetings.
  • Advises the President on all school matters, and votes on any school matter that requires a BOE vote.

Responsibilities:

  • Takes meeting minutes during BOE meetings.
  • Keeps records of all meeting minutes and presents minutes for approval by the BOE.
  • Creates a shared Google Drive for the BOE and keeps documents organized.
  • Advises the President on all school matters, and votes on any school matter that requires a BOE vote.

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses/improves the current school curriculum and metrics and advises the President.
  • Works with the President on the school’s Strategic Plan and executes benchmark goals.

Bio:

Dr. Shahab Moustafa, a former OCS student, is a seasoned higher education professional with over 20 years of experience. He has a proven track record in academic leadership, curriculum development, and instructional technology. Shahab is also a passionate educator, actively teaching business and education courses and serving as doctoral chair at several universities. Shahab received his doctorate in Educational Leadership from USC and an MBA from NYIT.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Works with the President and Vice-President on the creation, adoption, and implementation of policy.
  • Works with the President on the Board’s vision and structure.

Bio:

Al Jabbar is actively involved in local governance and community organizations, advocating for educational equity, social justice, and civic engagement. He has served on various boards and commissions, contributing significantly to the development and implementation of policies aimed at improving the lives of Orange County residents. Elected for two terms, Al served for ten years as a Trustee on the Anaheim Union High School District Board of Trustees. He currently serves as Chief of Staff to County of Orange District 4 Supervisor Doug Chaffee.

We are all excited to serve our school community and work closely with you to ensure the success and well-being of our students.

As we begin this new school year, we are filled with optimism and enthusiasm for what lies ahead. At Orange Crescent School, we are committed to providing a well-rounded education that not only focuses on academic excellence but also on the spiritual and moral development of our students.
